Digging the style, however this ain’t something that would normally be on Newgrounds, it might be just a process of some animation you’ve made before.

thanks ^^, yea this was just an animatic to get my feet wet, still i'm encouraged so I'll be making more stuff soon

“Wake up! This is why you gotta wake up! There’s something ravioli gotta wake up! (?) You’ve been asleep...”
“Wake up, wake up, wake up, Johny’s tired of waiting!”
“Wake up... ...come on Rob just”
“Wake up everybody! No more sleeping in bed”
“Wake up Robert”

I love this dude. This animation is like something that I would’ve watched the second it was made if I was born somewhere in the early-mid 90s. Those covers you made in this HD Special when Johny was playing music to get Rob to get up were funny, seriously. Also when you clarified that Rob said “I’M NAKED!” Just to get Johny out of the room, i just thought he was saying that for no reason at all.

Fr, this is an amazing animation/HD special, and it’s sad that the original never got an award nor frontpage. It definitely deserved one of those, or both.

Hopefully you’ll make more HD Specials of your older animations, like Runesuck, Pop A Cap, Don’t Sleep Robby, and such, those were also classics of yours, and I’d like to see them be HD remastered also.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Thank you! And yes, that is the plan. Currently considering Runesuck for December's release. The music was a fun last minute addition, an idea I'd always had that I only decided to do recently. I'm definitely going to go that route for Don't Sleep, Robby's music montage too. I was surprised so many of my fans wanted me to do this one as the second HD release, but I'm glad I did. I had a lot of fun putting it together.

The animation was good, but this just felt like something you put together in a day, and it also felt like you only made it just for the sake of making it, and you had no interest in it whatsoever.

Maybe I shouldn’t criticize it any further since it was probably meant to be random, but you know.

Shadow-Animator-JLG responds:

haha yeah, I made it 8 months ago (like in 3 days) and the purpose was put two random characters on a 2 seconds battle lol

Did you do shape tweening with the mouths?

-str-

cacko responds:

yep. obviously couldn't do that for most of them, so around 75% of them had to be animated frame-by-frame

Yo I’m sorry but that credits song was fire. Eminem became really quiet when that credits song came out!

Hello!

This was pretty nice.

If I were you, I’d consider improving the animation since it’s a bit wonky. And the art could also be better.

I would also recommend spending more time on your animations.

This is your second animation, right.

You’ve improved from this animation, right.

Edit: what last part?

Amazing for something made in 2 days!

The animation and art were amazing, the story was light hearted, and the music was very beautiful.

Overall, cute animation!

Thank you very much :)

Nice animation...

...but when you said “Wow 50 hours of work and not even top 10 fucking epic.” I just want to point out that 50 hours isn’t good enough to make a 38 second animation at top 10. Because basically you’ve been working on the animation for only 2 days.

I know from experience because I have animations on my profile that I’ve worked on for longer than 2 days, and none of those animations were on Top 10, (One Fine Day is no exception) only Overrun made it to top 10 (which doesn’t count because it was only worked on for about an hour, and the only reasoning for it going on Daily 9th Place was luck, mainly because I was only 10).

My best advice to you is if you want to make it to the top 10, work on it for longer than 2 days, hell, work on it for a week and you’ll easily make top 10.

Edit: True, it can be quite a pain in the ass to not be a runner up on something you actually put effort in and it wasn’t even a high scoring day, but in the Samurai Brak cartoon, you took 18 hours to make 11 seconds. Now multiply that by 3 and you get 33, which is less than the duration of this animation, and it took 18 hours, multiply that by 3, you get 54, which is more than the time you took to animate sad boi gripp. So basically I can ever so slightly understand why this isn’t a runner up, also because it only has a 2.99. Samurai Brak has a 3.96, which is almost a full star above sad boi gripp.

But on second thought, you do have a solid point in most cases. This sure should’ve gotten a runner up because you worked on it for 50 hours straight. So really, I was kinda the dumb one.

artistunknown responds:

lmao there's only 24 hours in a day and no one's gonna fucking work 50 hours straight unless they're doing a jam, and even then, realistically they're working closer to 36 hours.

I would not have complained about not getting in the top 10 for 50 hours of work for a 30 second cartoon, if my literal last cartoon which was ELEVEN SECONDS LONG and took only 18 hours to make had not gotten daily 3rd and WEEKLY 4th. That's quite a lot less time and shorter length.

I feel like I'm coming off as defensive here, which is weird because you've given this 4 stars so it's not like you're even being negative, I just think it's really fucking funny and bizarre. I've been submitting content to this site for over 10 years now so I think I have a good idea of how something will typically perform, and it's just caught me so off guard because the last several things I've submitted (aside from the obvious shitpost steven universe one) have done super well, despite me expecting the worst, so now when I don't have ANY expectations, but i still put a fuckton of time and love into something, it suddenly goes back to me passing judgement with less than a fucking 3/5 and then getting burried because people will think it's shit and not give it a watch. Also iirc this is the first time since I started getting awards that something I actually put effort into didn't make it into the top 10. At the very least I'm usually in the runner ups, unless it's an insanely high-scoring day, and today was absolutely not a high scoring day, so on all accounts it just doesn't make sense.

I'll get over it eventually, but it's definitely gonna still be bumming me out for the time-being. Thanks for checking it out at least!

I love those names, especially since they are reminisce of the painter, Bob Ross!

One thing I suggest though is give it some music, I would highly suggest this: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/27007. Not necessarily something you need to put in, but I highly suggest it. ;)

The flaws were the zooms in the first and last frames. The first frame was zoomed out, and so was the last frame. You should cut those frames out.

Another thing is that the sounds were a bit off sync, not completely though.

But the animation was smooth, and it was pretty cool! Also the part when Ross says “Just because I’m red doesn’t mean I’m bad,” it’s actually true considering my favorite color is red, which if you’ve known me for long enough, chances are you would know that. That’s how favorite that color is to me.

Overall, great stick figure animation. I love stick fight animations. 8.5/10.
